Acorn International recently hosted a webinar for its worldwide partners on the topics of Air Modeling and Hydrodynamic Modeling.
On January 23, US-based modeling experts Christopher Loreti and Eric Comerma delivered presentations to enhance partners’ knowledge of why and how the modeling is performed, how results can be applied to predict and manage potential impacts, and how the use of modeling can be explained during public meetings in remote areas that may be affected by development projects.
Christopher Loreti, Principal of The Loreti Group, led the Air Dispersion Modeling discussion, providing an overview of air quality impacts in the oil and gas industry and discussing the basic considerations that go into emissions dispersion modeling. Topics included priority pollutants, key sources of emissions, sensitive receptors, types of models, model inputs and assumptions, and limitations and margin of error of results, etc. The presentation can be found here.
Eric Comerma, Senior Scientist with RPS ASA, led the Hydrodynamic Modeling discussion, providing an overview of the subject matter for the oil and gas industry and discussing the basic considerations that go into oil spill dispersion modeling. Topics included common application, types of modeling, model inputs and assumptions, and limitations and margin of error of results, etc. The presentation can be found here.
