Acorn International's Mary Beth Snodgrass has been selected to be one of the first young professionals to serve on the Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Social Responsibility (HSSE-SR) Advisory Committee at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

The Advisory Committee, led by SPE’s global HSSE-SR Technical Director, identifies and provides strategic recommendations on HSSE-SR topics for the organization, encourages SPE membership among HSSE-SR professionals and participates in various SPE technical discipline committees.

Mary Beth will represent the interests of HSSE-SR young professionals and contribute her knowledge of SR affairs. Mary Beth was nominated for this honor after making a presentation at SPE’s HSSE Americas Conference in Galveston on March 19, 2013.

Acorn International advises extractive industries on social responsibility/social performance matters, including community engagement, social investment, social baseline and risk assessment, human rights, and capacity building. Mary Beth has worked with Acorn International in these areas, as well as with applying the IFC Performance Standards for Environmental and Social Sustainability, since 2011. She will be speaking on social responsibility topics at SPE’s HSSE-SR conference in Lima, Peru on June 27, 2013.
