Acorn International Opens Branch in Colombia
Acorn International is pleased to announce the opening of our branch in Colombia, effective May 1. Acorn International Sucursal Colombia will be based in Bogota and focused on delivering world-class, locally sourced and cost-effective social and environmental risk management services to the oil and gas industry in Colombia. Our branch will facilitate the ability of Colombian businesses, and branches of foreign businesses operating in Colombia, to access the services of our local and international experts to deliver the quality services that have attracted repeat business from our many oil and gas clients worldwide.
Our branch opening is driven by several years of increasingly active consulting support to international oil companies operating in Colombia and needing our expertise in community investment program design and implementation as well as other social and environmental management expertise, delivered with our network of local partners through our distinctive “local content & global assurance” business model. Our experience in Colombia dates back to helping BP manage controversial human rights and community impacts allegations in its Cusiana operations during the 1990s to leading a major ESIA and indigenous (FPIC) consultation program for an oil exploration program in a remote area of eastern Colombia in 2009-2011, to leading the planning and oversight of an extensive community investment program supporting exploration programs off the entire Atlantic Coast at present. Through this and other experience Acorn International, together with its integrated network of in-country partners, has become a leader in delivering social and environmental risk management solutions for the oil and gas industry in Colombia.
